Thank you all for the enthusiasm for our upcoming community event.

The event is essentially a wellbeing “retreat” which we’ve created for ourselves! We have lots of special talent coming to Sine Cera to  deliver a variety of unique experiences for all ages.

Open your mind to sound-bowls, stillness and breathwork! These will be just some of the flavours of the weekend.

We aim to empower our community and honour our  children, through three main themes, which we will build on in the coming weeks:

  • NATURE
  • AUTHENTICITY
  • CONNECTION

A PDF itinary for the weekend can be downloaded here :  Basic schedule Witches and Wizards event

The Sine Cera facility is well spaced out as can be seen in the map.  It has 3 buildings – two for accommodation and one Main Hall/Kitchen with a large commercial kitchen / cold room.

The older-style facility is quite basic.  It has 13 twin share rooms, and 7 x 10-person bunk rooms, which is perfect for what we need.  Linen and kitchen facilities are included in the accommodation pricing.  We have semi-catered for the event to save on catering costs, which means we’ve been able to arrange lots of special talent to deliver some unique experiences, along with a few jumping castles to keep the kids stoked!  Closer to the event, catering teams will be selected which will help with the admin of lunch and dinner times.

Please note, there will be the option to join the smaller group of us coming arriving on Friday, 2nd May.  We could always use more positive energy to help get things ready so please let us know if you’re keen to make it 3 nights!

Please note details below:

  • Saturday and Sunday Lunch and Dinner provided.
  • Breakfast is BYO and DIY (coffee machines will be ready to go)
  • BYO camping chairs for firepit
  • BYO swimmer and towel, as there is a creek to swim in!
  • BYO outdoor rugs and cushions if you want for lounging around in nature!
  • BYO yoga mats, eye-mask/eye-pillow and light blanket if you have one (for lying flat)
  • BYO plates, cutlery and bowls if you can. This will save the paper plates
  • BYO alcohol NB: please make it your intention to keep a “wellbeing” theme to this event.
  • If you feel inspired to share, BYO story, poetry and jokes!
  • Dress-up is encouraged – BOHEMIAN, RELAXED, HIPPIE …whatever you’re vibing.
  • Feel free to BYO a small gift or favourite book, and give it unexpectedly, to anybody.
  • You are encouraged to journal along the weekend.

Wizards Walks Completed

2024

Wizards Go West, Carnarvon Gorge, Wednesday 24th – Sunday/Monday 28/29th July, 2024

Carnarvon National Park

Wizard Attendance: 15

55 km

24th July, 2024

Before the sun rose, on Wednesday, the 24th July, 2024, wizards from various locations woke early and packed their cars to begin their long journey into central, western Queensland.

Wizards arrived in the afternoon at Carnarvon Wilderness Lodge  and initiated their experience with Wizard Wesly’s outdoor Zenley Yoga experience.  Wizards received their showbags that evening, which included a special edition “Wizards Go West” T-shirt, and the 2024 custom-fitted wizard uniform, consisting of a top and bottom psychedelic leisure suit.

Wizards woke early on Thursday to begin Day 1 of the Hero’s Journey, which included an uphill walk to the scenic vistas of Boolimba Bluff, followed by a guided breath-work “gratitude” session.

Wizards pushed on from the first walk to Warrumbah Gorge which offered wizards their first taste of  Carnarvon’s many  meandering and mystical green canyons.

A Wizards Platter was then presented by Ello-Catessan, which included an assortment of delicacies and delights.   Wizards later took a moment to rest  on the grass in the visitors park as they digested the feast.  After lunch, wizards took a brisk dip in the icy Rock Pool before returning to the lodge.  The common room at the Lodge served as the perfect  setting for some wizard group work before dinner, with a splendid fireplace bordered by a grand stone-wall.

Wizards set their intetions for “Preparation Day” through the healing and cleansing process of Hawaiian prayer, Ho’ oponopono, before ascending into a sound-bowl and drum guided shamanic breathing session.  The opening prayer and breath-work intervention became the perfect gateway for open discussion around the theme word for wizards in 2024, which was Re-Generation.  Wizards shared heart-felt perspectives about what the community means to them, and how they see the community evolving.  The integration of wizard partners and family-members was a shared notion amongst those who gave feedback.

Wizards enjoyed a Greek Feast in the evening, largely thanks to wizard Pete’s kitchen skills and prepartory enthusiasm.

Friday, the 25th of July, was “Journey Day” for the 2024 annual event, and wizards departed early for the 25km, main event.  Wizard Patrick guided the 15 strong crew seamlessly through the twists and turns of the long and impresive gorge, stopping frequently to give wizards orientation to ancient indigenous artwork, and awe-inspiring geographical insights.  Wizard Crofty lifted the wizard experience this year with a generous offering of “silent-disco” headsets, which served as the perfect tool for pre-recorded stories to be delivered to wizards ears throughout the day.  Wizard Danno’s story of spiritual synchronicity and sporting glory brought tears to the eyes of the wizard as they listened and cheered in synchrony along the picturesque trail.

Wizards enjoyed a pre-prepared lunch, courtesy of wizard Kirky and wizard Ford, which was served alongside the tranquil setting of a torqoise creek, at the base of a towering cliff-face.  Wizards enjoyed some quiet time after lunch, with a Palo Santo smoke-bomb and the joyful sounds of the “Prickly Pear” song.

Wizard Croft gained wisdom during the Main Event, around the  importance of qualtiy walking boots, after resorting to strapping tape to hold his sole (and soul) together for 23 of the 25km!

Wizards celebrated with the swift delivery of a few cold beers in the car-park after the enduring event, and quickly transitioned into uniform and celebratory mode with dinner at the Lodge restaurant on Friday evening.  Having “slayed the dragon”, wizards carried on rightly, with celebrations and festivities until their hearts were content.

Saturday was a day for wizards to rise slowly, and the optional walk to Moss Gardens was well received by those who chose to participate.

On Satruday afternoon the much-anticipated wizards Wine-Tasting experience unfolded in the lodge common room.  Wizard Rhys bestowed upon the wizards an impressive depth of wine wisdom, along with some personal favourites from his wine collection.

The awards night followed the wine experience, with special mention to award recipients wizard Angus, wizard Pete, and Golden Wizard 2024, wizard Dan.  The Golden Wizard award this year was given for outstanding displays of courage and vulnerabiliy, along with an exemplary enthusiams and participation in wizard activities throughout the event.

Special mention was also given to wizard Rhys for his dedication to the operations of the Carnarvon event.

Some wizards chose to return to the “ordinary world” on Sunday, however, wizards who had signed up for the Triple Platinum Package extended their experience with a stopover in Roma on the return trip, whereby they enjoyed a country rugby-league and cheap hotel experience before returning to base on Monday.

Illinbah Circuit / Binna Burra / Lamington National Park  – April 14th, 2024

Binna Burra, Lamington National Park

Wizard Attendance: 10

20.5 km

15th April, 2024

The Illinbah circuit was a milestone for the wizards, as it marked the 20th hike completed since the birth of the community.  Wizards arrived to Binna Burra lower carpark and set off in an anti-clockwise manner, descending gradually through the thick scrub to the Coomera creek.

Wizards strolled the walk for a total of 8 hours, stopping regularly to investigate many wonders along the way.  The theme of the walk was “death”, and wizards stopped for a death meditation and smoke ceremony at their 3rd creek crossing.

Wizards crossed the creek 14 times during this walk and found that walking through the water was more efficient than taking shoes on/off each time.

For lunch, wizards enjoyed lobster tail on brioche buns, washed down with icy cold margaritas, all whilst enjoying the luxury of surround sound music alongside a choice billabong approximately half way into the trip.

Sarges hot tips:

Tip: Go Anti clockwise and swim in Gwonggoorool Pool (only 2.5 from finish of trail.
Tip: take spare socks and crocs for creek crossing to keep somewhat dry. Also able to push through in boots if necessary.
Tip: Meet in cark park 1.5km from Binna Burra guest house. Early start best in winter to have as much light as possible.

West Canungra Creek Circuit, 24th March 2024

Lamington National Park

Wizard Attendance: 6

21.2 km

24th March 2024

The West Canungra Creek circuit was the first official walk of 2024.  Starting at the trailhead at Green Mountain (O’Riellys), wizards descend the plateau to the impressive Canungra Creek.  Standout features of this walk are the enormous Box trees and Gondwana size trees and vines alongside the riverbed, as well as the grandeur scale of the boulder formations guiding the flow of water.  A hiker could find himself feeling as if he had been shrunken or perhaps entered a world of giants.

On this particular date, wizards encountered several challenges.  Firstly, a large number of leeches were finding their way into socks, up legs and onto torsos.  Secondly, a small group of wandering wizards found themselves about 10 minutes upstream in the wrong direction, having passed the poorly visible markers at a creek crossing which indicated the need to cross through knee-high water.    Thirdly, wizards encountered a huge tree that had fallen across their mountainside path.  The tree had fallen into the path and taken the path with it as it leant bottom-up, extending downwards to the river bed 80 feet below.  Wizards had to navigate around the base roots of the tree, carefully stepping along the treacherous loose rubble and then descending over debris to the path on the opposite side.

Wizards created a smoking ceremony and humming session for themselves before embarking upon an off-piste adventure, they were able to swim across a pond and scale up a waterfall to a secretive garden of green moss, round boulders, waterfalls and sheer wonder.

The long walk home was hastened by the promise of a Ploughman’s platter created by Wizard Ello, and the subsequent devouring of the platter was at similar haste, and, not unlike a scene of 6 fully grown, dirty male pigs at a narrow food trough.

The walk took 7hr and 20min and was noted by all to be one of the prettiest walks that Lamington has to offer.

The Spring Awakening 2023 -Nightcap National Park -Cymra Life Sciences, Rous, NSW

Nightcap National Park

Wizard Attendance: 18

6 km

21st-22nd October
2023

The 2023 Spring Awakening was an overnight event, in the luscious region of northern NSW.

Wizards began with a short walk in the Nightcap National Park, meeting at Rummery Park Camping Ground and embarking on a 6km stroll to Minyon Falls.  Along the way, wizard Mark hosted a powerful breathwork session on the banks of Boggy Creek.  Afterward, many wizards shared stories of conscious awakenings during the experience.

From Nightcap, the wizards moved south to Rous, NSW, where they were met with gracious hospitality by Joel and Scott, who hosted the wizards at Cymra’s marijuana farm.  The wizards toured the facility and grew new appreciation for the wisdom and enthusiasm that goes into growing some of Australia’s best medicinal plant products.  Wizards eased into an extremely relaxing evening, enjoying pizza’s made by Wizards Joey and Rhysie.

In the evening, limited edition wizard robes were presented to wizard Wesley (flaming wizard emblem) and wizards Crofty, Fordo, and Joel (mushroom and leaf wizard emblems).

Wizard of the Weekend award went to Ben Croft, for outstanding service to wizards, keeping the margarita’s coming, the beer pouring and the coffee and breakfast on point!
